I’m a historical fiction writer, copywriter, mother of four, military wife and keen knitter. Passionate about history and fiction especially women from the First and Second World Wars, my stories transport you to a series of different points in time from the Victorian period right through to the dark days of WWII.
From being a very young child reading and writing were a huge part of my life and my mother encouraged this through her own love of books. The very first book I ever wrote was a children’s story for my younger sister when I was seven. I painstakingly drew (very badly) little hedgehogs and animals and loved creating the story for her to read. I stuck the book together with sellotape and presented my work to a delighted little girl.
Alongside things like this, I kept a diary throughout my childhood and teenage years, and had so many different stories floating around my imagination that sometimes I just had to write them down to get them out of my head.
However, I resisted this urge and kept it a secret, because real people didn’t become writers real people got jobs in offices. But I always wanted to write a book one day. I thought that writing one book would be enough to stem the desire to write, but I was wrong in that too, the desire to write seems to be ingrained into my bones.
Since those early days I’ve spent almost 20 years as a military wife, gained a University Degree in English with Creative Writing, brought up four children and built a career in content and copywriting. But now I am finally poised to get my stories published.
For the future, I plan to write many more books and conquer original 1940s vintage knitting patterns.
